Project goal, objectives and expected results:
Climate change and environmental degradation are among the most pressing threats to the world. The European Union is a leader in addressing these challenges. The EU’s strategic goal is to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. This goal will be achieved, in particular, through the implementation of measures to decarbonize the energy sector. Problems and challenges related to the negative impact on the environment, in particular, due to the burning of fossil fuels and low energy efficiency in the energy sector, are also relevant for Ukraine. At the same time, Ukraine has a great potential for using clean renewable energy sources in all sectors of the economy, so the European experience of decarbonizing the energy sector is extremely important for Ukraine.
The project is dedicated to the study of European policies and best practices in the field of efficient use of energy resources and transformation to a low-carbon economy.

The aim of the project is to popularize the ideas of European energy policy, best practices of energy saving, development of environmentally friendly energy technologies and principles of sustainable development.

The specific objectives are:

  1. Providing students with knowledge about EU policy in the field of circular economy, the use of renewable energy sources and ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  2. Analysis of the current state and prospects of clean energy development in the EU and Ukraine. Analysis of possible problems arising from the implementation of the principles of a low-carbon economy.
  3. Popularization of low-carbon economy ideas among the general public.

The following activities are planned: implementation of the training module, research, organization of events (three roundtables and a conference), creation of a project webpage on the university’s website and a page on social media, publication of educational materials and research papers.

Representatives of civil society, politicians, civil servants, media representatives, and specialists of various levels are planned to be involved in discussing issues related to the implementation of low-carbon development principles in the EU and Ukraine during the roundtables and conference.

The main outcomes of the project are to raise awareness of the general public about key aspects of EU energy strategies and to transform this knowledge into practical approaches for efficient energy use and development of clean energy technologies in Ukraine. The project will promote the popularization of European ideas of a low-carbon economy and the formation of environmental awareness. The dissemination of best practices of European best practices in the course of the project implementation will facilitate Ukraine’s faster transition to low-carbon development.
