On December 20, 2019 a seminar for young biotechnologist-microbiologist was held at the Department of Biotechnology in the framework of career guidance.
The students of the following educational institutions participated in the seminar:
• College of Information Technology and Land Management of the National Aviation University
• Staroberezhradychiv secondary school of I – III grades of Obukhov district of Kyiv region
• Gymnasium № 153, Kyiv
Pupils got acquainted with the educational laboratories of the Department of Biotechnology, with safety procedures in the microbiological and biotechnological laboratories.
Future applicants learned about various methods of sterilization of the studied material, about the preparation of culture media for growing microorganisms – producers of various biologically active substances.
The methods of inoculation and culturing of microorganisms on nutrient media, as well as the work of laboratory fermenters were demonstrated to pupils.
Future applicants learned about growing plants in vitro, as well as technology callus cultures.
Pupils also had the opportunity to visit the Aviation Museum of NAU.
At the end of the seminar, a round table was held where students could ask their questions.
